A man serving a sentence of life imprisonment for a crime he didn't commit makes a break from a chain gang to seek justice, encountering love and violence. In this fast paced action film, the hard-hitting hero - wrongly convicted for murder - goes after the real murderers. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and is directed by Sanjay Gupta. It is an Indian Hindi-language action drama film with a western theme. The film, with Ritesh Sidhwani as the producer, has its music scored by Pritam and lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Danish Sabri and Mehboob. Song lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya himself. Apart from the leads it also stars Akshaye Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Zayed Khan and Kay Kay Menon in the lead roles. The film released on 14 October 2012. The film will be remade in Tamil as "Jigarthanda" with Vijay Sethupathi. Amitabh Bachchan's entry was highly touted by the media. He plays a prison warden called Bhairon Singh. The film marks his return to the character of a police officer after almost 30 years since Khud-daar . It also marks his first action role after the flop "Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswati". Filming began on 8 June 2011 in Mumbai. Shooting then took place at Mehboob Studios, Karjat and nearby areas nearby Belapur Fort. Pritam's music is released on 9 August 2012. This is the second time for Pritam and Harshvardhan, after their successful partnership in "Gangs of Wasseypur". The album consists of five songs and the lyrics are penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Danish Sabri, Mehboob and Kausar Munir. The film's soundtrack has been highly acclaimed and was praised by critics for bringing freshness to the new age Indian action films. The album was released on 9 August 2012, and the music was launched by Ajay Devgn and Kajol at a party in Bandra, Mumbai. The music has been well received and appreciated by viewers too. The film opened to positive reviews and success at the box office. After five days, "The Fugitive" had collected approximately , making it one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time.
